Summer's End

It is the end of the summer and the greens are back in full force. For the last two weeks I have been blown away by the quantity of and quality of the harvest. It is a perfect time to stock up on spinach or baby kale if you are looking to freeze some!

This week my dad and I managed to get my irrigation system set up in the field. So, of course, it rained. Luckily we have all the parts ready now, so next time it is needed, it will be easy to set up. This helps reduce a lot of stress on the farm. Without irrigation, so much of my planting schedule is dictated by the rain. And on weeks like this one, the heat can bring unexpected rain storms, making that planning especially difficult. Easy to manage irrigation should help with keeping consistent crops that can outgrow weeds, and allow for more transplanting in the field.
