I named my farm Stardust because for most of my life it has had a summer drought. But last year we got over 10 inches of rain in July, and this year, thankfully we haven't got that much, we still have received over 3 inches in the past week.
This spring I lost some spinach crops to too much water, I will have to see how these ones fair now. The ground is squishy with little 4 inch puddles at the ends of the rows and I was sinking into the mud as I harvested yesterday. But right now I am also trying to figure out when I can plant. Part of my garden plan is weekly seeding. While I have missed some weeks so far this year and caught up the next, I am never as happy with the product as when I am able to stay on schedule.
Plus on top of all this, it is back to just me on the farm. I will have to adjust the farmstand schedules as I go to the farmers markets. Plus it will keep me busy with planting and harvesting. I have worked this way for many years and will certainly make it work. It is my dream to be back on the farm and I am happy to be able to live here and grow flowers and vegetables.
