It is finally starting to feel like fall. After working in shorts on Tuesday, I spent Friday morning bundled up in my thermal tights, and three sweaters to stay comfortable all day. The market was another good day which has me looking forward to this coming Friday. The late markets, while always chilly, always have the widest selection of vegetables. This week I will be the only vegetable producer, with Erin's Tiny Farm being done for the season, and Claylan Produce being busy harvesting field crops. I will still be joined by Forest Hill Orchards with their bumper crop of apples, Uncle Dad's Pizza, and hopefully Eagleson Farms, and Forest Fungi.
My greens are still doing well in the field, as are the salad turnips, and radishes. I have lots of kabocha, hubbard, and spaghetti squash left. The bok choi was a surprisingly good seller last week (I sold out) and their is still plenty available. There are a few of my tomatoes left, and some potatoes too! I have lots of garlic (until I decide to plant it all). And microgreens, I added the Mum's Sprouting Seeds spicy blend to my rotation, along with radish, broccoli, and peashoots.
I am struggling to keep consistent farmstand hours. Between farm markets, teaching piano, and helping in my family store, finding a time and day that isn't too confusing has been a bit of a struggle. If anyone has some feedback to offer, I would gladly take it.
In the meantime, I still offer farmshares on my website, or sign up in person! Or orders can be placed and picked up on the farm or at Williamson Farms.
I found my missing knife! Plus a neighbour kindly gave me some old crates!
